Training in Park City for two weeks meant a total change of scenery. We left the termination dust capped peaks and hints of skiing to jump back into summer temperatures and yellow aspen groves coating the hillsides. Park City provided awesome weather for the duration of the camp.
At this time of year, Park City was ideal for training. As the weather turned in Anchorage, we explored the smooth pavement of various canyons, cruised through the Wasatch on random trails, and fine tuned some different skiing at Soldier Hollow. While roads can provide good training and nice grinding work, the rollerski loops at Soldier Hollow and other venues offer an entirely different rhythm. We also got a chance to test our skills, speed, and fitness against much of the rest of the US in the US ski team and the other top club teams.
